The Chosen One?s reign at the Cassada Gardens Race Track was proven without doubt in the feature race on Sunday over 9 furlongs dubbed Dr Errol Cort?s Carnival Classic.
In the day?s most anticipated race, The Chosen One waited for the last furlong to ease past Mr Big Stuff which controlled most of the race along with newly imported Vybz Kartel to cross the finish line by just a head length in a time of 152.64 seconds.
But newly imported Vybz Kartel?s jockey Clair Wilkins cried foul on Mr Big Stuff?s jockey Jeff Jacobs. However, Dumbai Qualis, The Chosen One?s jockey was not concerned and finished first in successive races.
The fans were very impressed with Vybz Kartel although he settled for second place.
Heated arguments developed between persons of the The Chosen One?s Chief Rocker Stables and First Choice Stables of Vybz Kartel over the race.
The races actually got started late with 9 runners in the G2 over 5 furlongs.
After a mishap in which Lickle Pin bolted and jockey Dwight Jacobs fell, Silver Storm ridden by Jeff Jacobs crossed the finish line first in a time of 110.95 seconds. Why Worry placed second and Lindingo third. It was later revealed that both jockey and horse were fine.
In the second race of the day, the F2 and Lower over 6 furlongs for the Vybz FM trophy, Better Moment narrowly edged out Bullet to cross the finish line in a time of 118.52 seconds. Wilkins was in the saddle of Better Moment while Jeff Jacobs was in the saddle of Bullet. Gaza King, ridden by Dwight Jacobs, finished third.
In race No 3, the E3 and lower also over 6 furlongs for the Red Hott Radio Trophy, Red Hott Flames, ridden by Qualis, ran to victory in a time of 117.09 seconds to beat Vendetta and Vicky into second and third places, respectively.
In the Bolans Feed Shop Trophy over 5 furlongs Mr Milwood out of the Calibi Stables and ridden by Qualis was simply too good for the rest and crossed the finish line in 106.25 seconds.
Peep Shot ridden by Jeff Jacobs was second and the Mafia (aka Dollar Bill) was third.
In the Cool and Smooth Crazy Carnival Spirit over 6 furlongs, Parham Pride from the White and Nice Stables and ridden by Qualis outclassed Thunder Storm and Jumma Girl to cross the finish line in 119.98 seconds.
In race No 6 the Cash Eye Entertainment Carnival Rumble over 8 furlongs, Ask Ashley out of the West Point Stables and ridden by Jeff Jacobs, had an easy victory over Halo?s Pleasure of the Western Stables, which finished a distant second and Carol the Sniper third. Ask Ashley crossed the finish line in 139.33 seconds.
In the Abbott Farms Crazy Bacchanal Sprint over 5 furlongs, Barbosa, owned by L Purcell and ridden by Wilkins, ran to victory ahead of Jack Idle second and Wadadli Gold third in a time of 102.44 seconds.
Xavier Ferris sat in the saddle of Jack Idle while Dwight Jacobs was in the saddle of Wadadli Gold.
In the final race of the day in fading light, the Food Brokerage Service Carnival Challenge over 5 furlongs, Summer Brooke, owned by Purcell and ridden by Wilkins, ran to victory ahead of Sunday Whirl ridden by Qualis and High Grade.
