With just three weeks to go before the staging of the Magic Mango/Pineapple Culinary Competition on August 8, at the Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute, chairperson of the organising committee, Madeleine Mc Comas said plans are in high gear.
The event forms part of the line-up for the Mango Festival, set for August 15 & 16 at Christian Valley.
Mc Comas said 20 chefs and approximately 15 bartenders have been confirmed thus far to participate in the Magic Mango/Pineapple Culinary Competition.
Plans are also afoot to accommodate selected mango and pineapple vendors to sell at the event.
A reception is also planned for officials within the ministries of Agriculture and Tourism as well as a small group of invited guests.
Mc Comas said recipes are due this Saturday.
It was also decided that there will be no announcement of winners on August 8 because of the large number of entries to the competition. Announcements will be made at the Mango Festival on Sunday, August 16.
Meantime, the deadline for submission for the art/poster competition for ages five-15 is July 31 and entry forms are available at www.antiguamangofest.com Organisers are encouraging individuals hosting summer camps to utilise the opportunity.
