ST JOHN’S, Antigua – A police officer attached to the Fire Department might soon have to hand over his baton and badge as charges are pending against him for marijuana possession.
The constable was reportedly caught smoking a marijuana joint as he was walking in plain clothes among a crowd headed out to Fort James yesterday to celebrate Labour Day around 2:15 pm.
“The smell of the marijuana got his colleagues’ attention and they walked over to him and asked him to hand over the joint,” a source said.
Before complying, the officer reportedly told his uniformed colleagues who he was but that did not stop the investigators from probing further.
“The police told him ‘Okay’ and when they searched his pockets, they found a small transparent bag with marijuana and they took him away,” the individual revealed.
The source was extremely proud to note, “Police are weeding out the bad eggs and rotten apples.”
The fireman is still being investigated and up to press time he was in custody.
Charges are expected to be filed today.
