ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Two staff members of the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) are in St Kitts attending a workshop organised by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
They are Myron Ward and Naomi Williams-Carvalho.
The exercise, a NODS release said, aims to develop a cadre of trainers to deliver community preparedness programmes across the region.
“Antigua & Barbuda is capitalising on an opportunity that will assist communities in developing effective disaster preparedness programmes,” the communiqué read. “CDEMA is undertaking the development of a model community preparedness programme toolkit for its participating states, which will contain the tools needed to assist communities.
“The meeting will also orient participants to the updated CDEMA community preparedness programme facilitators manual and participant handbook, evaluate them and make recommendations for any changes.”
The exercise runs from February 11 to 13.
