The greatest summer festival kicks off next weekend and one of the fetes building momentum in the lead-up to the season is Red Eye, the Breakfast Fete. It’s happening tomorrow night at Antigua Recreation Grounds.

Boasting a line-up of soca stars including Machel Montano and his HD band, T&T songbird Patrice Roberts and Farmer Nappy, among other heavy-hitters, organisers promise non-stop action from the 8 pm sharp start to the finish.

Co-founder of the Red Eye Fete, Andy Liburd told OBSERVER Entertainment it took some effort to bag internationally acclaimed Montano for the event.

“He’s really stepped up his game internationally. He sold out Madison Square Garden twice,” Liburd said. “When Machel hits the stage it’s like a theatre. It’s not only about the music, it’s about the performance (and) it’s about the show.”

Also present that night will be current Trinidad & Tobago International Power Soca Monarch and Road March champion, JW & Blaize, who will no doubt perform their mega hit “Palance.”

“This year we’ve really taken things to another level in terms of bringing the biggest soca artistes there are in the world today to Antigua,” Liburd said. “From the get go, from eight o’clock pm to whenever Red Eye ends, it’s going to be high energy, one act after the other.”

Jumpstarting the soca vibes will be Antigua’s Groovy and Party Monarch Tian Winter, before multi-peat soca monarchs CP and Sleepy take the stage with Taxik. They’ll be followed by Soca Paramedics El A Kru and then Sir Oungku will crank up the heat to Red Hot before the Trini guests take it to the next level.

Liburd promises that the entire grounds will be transformed to fit the Red Eye theme.

“It’s not just about bringing artistes on stage and having them perform. What we want is the entire experience.”

Tickets are on sale for $40 at The Source clothing store on Recliffe Street and at all Digicel outlets.

While the organisers are encouraging everyone to get tickets as early as possible, there will be tickets on sale the night of the show at the regular price until midnight and at $50 thereafter.

JLS Sounds will provide the sound system. Sponsors include Digicel, Best Cellars Wines and Spirits for Mount Gay rum, Passoa, Ponche Kuba, A S Bryden with Carib Beer, Blue Waters, Monster Energy Drink and Quin Farara with Hennessy and Finlandia Vodka.
