More new horses to show their mettle on Mother’s Day

St. John’s Antigua- Cassada Gardens Race Track will come alive again on Sunday, May 13, when Antigua Turf Club holds its Mother’s Day Meet.

The president of the turf club, Neil Cochrane, told OBSERVER Sports that not only will they host races on Mother’s Day, but races will also be held on Sunday, May 27 as a pre-Whit weekend event. This he said is get the race fans back to the Gardens.

There will be six races on the race card for the Mother’s Day meet during which the fans will get to see more of the recently imported horses that did not run on Easter Monday and also to get another look at those that did run on that day.

More than 25 horses will take the track on Mother’s Day and all eyes will focus on Lucinda Tight Tight out of the Lyon’s Estate Stables that showed lightning speed over two furlongs on Easter Monday. It is left to be seen her speed over a longer distance.

Fantasy Unbridled, Oh Sugar and He’s Alive from the Chief Rocker Stables will have to show their worth, while Missing Files, Vybz Cartel, Jack Idle and The Chosen One will have to prove that their victories on Easter Monday was no fluke.

On the other hand, Mr Big Stuff will have to shake off the shackles of his losing streak, Timber King and God’s Grace and Don’t Tell my Wife will be all aiming for their first victory.

The races will be sponsored by Cool & Smooth, WIOC, Jack Idle & Company, Ministry of Public Works, Barbuda Council, HB Heavy Equipment & Truck Services, Local Oils, Dews, Abbott’s Farm, Jerome A Roberts Ltd, Gregory’s Heavy Equipment Rentals, Kennedy’s Enterprises Ltd, Island fence & Hardware, Special Security Services, AmeriJet and Occasions Party Rentals.
