Imagine a place where nature meets history and the melodious voices of children fill the air. This is the setting of the Methodist Church annual Children’s Choir Festival. Eleven children’s choirs from across the Antigua Circuit, along with dancers, instrumentalists, and the exciting Baxter Steel Orchestra will gather at the historic Baxter Methodist Church in English Harbour for the annual Children’s Choir Festival.

Each choir will present two pieces: the first piece will be a traditional Methodist hymn, and the second will be a selection of choice. Choristers will range from 4 to 12 years.

Since its inception in 2004, the Children’s Choir Festival has guided hundreds of children through a positive and fun musical journey through the traditional hymns of the Methodist faith. In addition, the festival also provides the opportunity for young worshippers who love music to express themselves in a collaborative and fun activity.

“We are extremely proud to be able to sustain the festival for almost a decade,” said Philip Lloyd, chairman of the Circuit Children’s Commission, under whose responsibility the event falls. “I am very appreciative of the dedicated support of the pastors, choir directors, musicians and parents.

The 2012 Children’s Choir Festival will take place this Sunday, 4 pm at the Baxter Methodist Church.  The entire Christian community is invited to attend and offer their support to our young choristers as they sing praises to their God and King.
