ST JOHN’S, Antigua – A prominent journalist is expected to make his first appearance in St John’s Magistrates’ Court today, after being slapped with a sexual assault charge for unlawful relations with a 13-year-old girl.
The media personality, who was granted station bail over the weekend in the amount of $10,000, is reported to have taken the child home from a function in a vehicle on June 12.
Allegations are that when the vehicle reached Gunthorpes the man, “touched the teenager inappropriately,” a police source said.
The incident was reported to police and the journalist was later taken into custody and charged.
Today’s proceeding is expected to see the formalisation of bail and a committal date set, which will determine if the matter will go to the High Court before a judge and jury for the indictable offence.
If found guilty, the media personality faces up to five years in prison.

“prominent journalist”? Really? There is nothing prominent about this man. I want to know why they aren’t naming him. I am sure this is NOT the first time he has done this. I guarantee if they were to name him, and circulated this story more victims would come forward. It is a sad case when you cannot trust your children with other so-called adults. What is this world coming to? If found guilty, he should be given more than 5 years. I guarantee you it will take longer than 5 years for this child to get over the trauma which she probably experienced throughout this ordeal.

JD Really??? You sound like a fool!! Did you read the article?? When was it a crime to asked an ADULT to bring your child home? She is 13, and she is a VICTIM!!
It doesnt matter where the child was or what she was doing, she is still a child and should be treated as such.
This is a old hard tone gray bead man! So it would be okay for him to molest her??
The parent gave the concent to take her child home… it is not a crime. What he did to this CHILD was the CRIME here…Stop blaming everyone except the person who committed this crime….

nameless – you miss my point totally and yet you are actually saying the same thing too. Why do you not see that? Of course she is a victim here and of course it’s not OK that she has been molested but this situation could have been avoided if she had been taken home by a ‘vetted’ person – I am not reading here that consent was given by her parents, unless you know more about this situation than we are seeing here. Things are never just ‘black or white’…

Where were her parents? Why are they letting her get into a car alone with a grown man? Children need to be properly looked after.
