ST JOHN’S, Antigua – PIC Insurance Liberta cricket team lead the point standings of the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) Two-day Competition after five rounds of matches with almost a perfect record.

They stand on 54 points, winning four of their matches outright and gaining first innings point in the other due to rain.

In their four victories, they beat Diamonds International Police by 10 wickets; Island Fence and Hardware Jennings by an innings and 52 runs; defending champions Gunthropes Spring Water Bethesda by seven wickets, and Medpath New Winthorpes by nine wickets, in that order over the preliminary rounds.

They also gained first innings point over All Saints in their match after rain had washed out play on the final day.

However, apart from leading the point standings, Liberta’s Rahkeem “Jimbo” Cornwall, known mostly for his batting, is the leading wicket-taker so far in the competition. He has so far scalped 43 wickets.

Meanwhile, coach/player Wilden “Polo” Cornwall scored a century in that rain-affected match against All Saints to become only the second player so far to top the three-figure mark.

Bertel Baltimore of Police smashed 117 runs against Bethesda.

Liberta will be resting this weekend.

The other teams stack up as follows: Bolans have 34 points; Scotiabank Empire, 30; New Winthorpes have 25; Police and Bethesda are both on 21 points; All Saints have 12; Combined Schools are on seven, and Island Fence & Hardware Jennings have secured the bottom with four points.
