Dear Editor
The Cargo and Quick Pak workers at LIAT were thankfully given a brief respite this week, but they can not possibly sleep easy for their jobs are still up in the air.
The minister of labour has given an undertaking for the company to come up with a business plan that would indicate where the company is going.
Shouldn’t this have been done a long time ago? Without a plan, how can you tell where you are going and how will you know when you have arrived there?
If it were that easy, why would LIAT not have come up with one a long time ago? It seems to me that the airline is operating on crisis management – a jab here and a punch there.
It is hardly likely that a credible plan can be forthcoming in a week’s time.
Whatever the outcome, I hope the workers are not shafted and placed on the altar of the shortcomings of management.
