ST JOHN’S, Antigua – An aircraft maintenance technician with regional airline LIAT, Dorian Nicholas, is the 2012 International Federation of Airworthiness (IFA) scholarship winner.

Nicholas, a national of Antigua & Barbuda, attended the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School in Guyana on a four-year Scholarship sponsored by LIAT and joined the airline as an employee following his graduation in 2011.

The IFA Scholarship, valued at £3,500, enables the winner to attend a recognised international airworthiness course.

“We extend our congratulations to Dorian on his achievement and we are extremely happy and proud to have him on our engineering team,” LIAT director of maintenance Alan Alexander said.

Nicholas will use the scholarship to attend the JAA Airworthiness course being held in London in November.

It is the first time the award is being presented to a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) national.
