ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Leeward Islands’ cricket selectors have made three changes to the team as they prepare to take on defending champions Jamaica in the third round of matches in the Regional 4-Day Cricket Competition at Sabina Park this weekend.

Shane Jeffers, Steve Liburd and Orlando Peters have been omitted and the way cleared for the return of wicketkeeper/batsman Devon “Boobie” Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr, and Nevisian Javia Liburd.

The team will also be without Manager Percy Daniel whose position was made redundant.

However, Daniel still remains chairman of the Leewards Selection panel. There is still no room for Austin Richards Jr who was on reserve.

Leeward Islands lost to Guyana by an innings and 234 runs in their first match in Dominica and lost to Combined Campuses & Colleges by an innings and 15 runs at 3Ws Oval in Barbados in their second round match.

Both matches were concluded within two days.

Former national and Leewards coach John Archibald has been called up to work with the squad alongside Coach Stuart Williams.

Leeward Islands will be looking to put up a better fight against Jamaica. The team consists of Gavin Williams (captain), Gavin Tonge, Anthony “I-Roots” Martin, Justin Athanaze, Devon “Boobie” Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr, Jahmar Hamilton, Moncin Hodge, Javia Liburd, Nelson Bolan, Jason Campbell, Tonito Willett and Kieran Powell.
