BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 17, CMC – The leader of the main opposition People’s Action Movement (PAM), Lindsay Grant Tuesday announced that he was stepping down from the post on September 30.

Grant, who has been PAM leader for 12 years, has failed to win the support of the electorate in any of the general elections following his ascension to the leadership of the 47-year old party.

“No one has asked me to leave.  I make this decision on my own and because of my own circumstances,” he told  a news conference.

“I do this in the best interest in the political party that I have the honour to lead…and the country at large,” he said, suggesting that he would continue to stand as a candidate for the party in Constituency Four.
