Lawrence Mason, also known as Lawrence M, is due to return to the US this weekend.

St. John’s Antigua- Veteran media personality Lawrence Mason is on island drumming up support for his New York-based radio show “The We Love Antigua Show”.

Mason, also known as Lawrence M, described the web-based show as his attempt to spread Antiguan and Barbudan music and culture worldwide. He is currently seeking sponsorship to expand his radio station’s operations which are currently being streamed to thousands of people a week from 57 countries.

“There is a platform, so after a while, I decided to do my own (show) for the love of it and for the love of country, creating this avenue where our music can be heard throughout the rest of the world,” Mason said.

His objective during his week-long visit home was to seek sponsorship for the fledgling radio show.

“I’m going to business places trying to negotiate with the owners…trying to get them on board to advertise. I would like the show sponsored by an indigenous Antiguan group or company.”

The We Love Antigua Show regales listeners with tales of “home” and music of all genres from the twin-island.

“The show is music and talk. We don’t discriminate the genres,” Mason explained. “We play instrumental, steel band, reggae, soca, and calypso. It is all about Antigua on the show.”

The programme is the brainchild of Mason, who has been in broadcasting since 1987, spending stints at both ABS and HITZ FM in Antigua & Barbuda.

After migrating to New York he worked for MIX 96 before starting his own web-based show on www.lawrencemnow.com .
