ROSEAU, Dominica, Feb 11, CMC – Dennison Joseph became the first person to win a record six calypso monarch titles when he won the competition here on Sunday.
Joseph, who uses the stage name “King Dice” won from a field of 10 calypsonians as Dominicans began two days of street revelry on Monday.
The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, said it would be participating in the parade under the theme “Nothing About Us, Without Us!”
It said it has received funding from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the event.
Meanwhile, Leslassa Armour-Shillingford captured the Miss Dominica 2013 title, winning also awards for best talent, best performing talent, best swim wear and best in swim wear. She will receive a government scholarship to further her education as part of the prizes.
