Kudos to the Medical Benefits team for its efforts to promote awareness of the benefits of good eating habits among our populace.
I notice that MBS has been having health-centred activities at every opportunity. I can’t fail to mention the public service announcements which offer tips for healthy cooking, ways of incorporating more water in the diet and the benefits of staying active.
The scheme has been in the schools helping to get our children in better condition. MBS reps exercise with them and engage them in fun activities such as skipping rope competitions.
It can be seen that there’s an aggressive move to tackle obesity among young people. For not only has the Medical Benefits Scheme been very vocal through radio and television interviews and public service announcements, but it has embarked on a physical activity and nutrition plan throughout the nation’s schools.
At least if everyone receives the information about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and an active lifestyle, they can choose their health paths. What MBS has done is empower residents of Antigua & Barbuda with the information.
It’s now up to us to make good use of it.
