John lifts Crushers with 29 boards

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Coast Outlaws, Big Banana Express, York Crushers and Baldwin Braves cashed in over the weekend in the Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) First Division at JSC Sports Complex.

In Sunday’s games, Crushers hammered New Thriving Roots, 80-50. Orlando Morris delivered 22 points and four assists; Rodney John had 11 points, 29 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals; and Mario Davis added 22 points and 14 rebounds for Crushers.

On the losing side, Eril Quallis chipped in 11 points and Bernard Andrew added 12 points for Roots.

In the second game, Baldwin Braves escaped Hankook Flyers, 91-86, in overtime. Damion Floyd scored 21 points and pulled six rebounds; Vivian Destin added 32 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals, while Edleawn “Cat” Barton 11 points, six rebounds, and 10 steals for Braves.

      Michael Jeffers scored 21 points; Darnel Azalle added 18 points, nine boards, and five assists; Sheriff Sargent 18 points, and 11 rebounds, while Chaz Samuel had 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for Flyers.

The game went into overtime after the teams ended regulation tied on 83 points.

On Saturday night, Outlaws edged DC Diamond Stars, 85-80. Russell Daley chipped in 24 points and six steals; Olivaire Morris added 25 points; Darius Richards 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Michael Xavier had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists for Outlaws.

      Adisa Harris had 19 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and four steals; Toriano Matthew added 23 points, while Andy Bass contributed 13 points and six assists for the losers.

In the second game that evening, Express narrowly escaped Baba’s Trucking Hawks, 88-87. Xavier Meade produced 23 points and nine rebounds; Lindsay McDonald had 19 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, while George Francis scored 22 points for Express.

Marlon “Buju” Charles had 14 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists; Coy Quinland added 15 points, and Kevin Francis had 28 points and five rebounds for Hawks.
