Jennings win battle, but lose match

St. John’s Antigua- Jennings Secondary beat St Joseph’s Academy by 45 runs in the United Insurance, Ministry of Sports Under-15 Cricket Competition at Rising Sun Ground on Tuesday but still lost the match after it was revealed that Jennings played with an over-aged player.

It was reported that Jennings Secondary’s player Jermaine Browne top-scored with 76 in his team’s innings of 161 runs, but he turned 15 years on that very day thus making him too old for the Under-15 tournament. His teammate Brandon Harris scored 20.

Bowling for St Joseph’s, Gerald Williams clsimed three scalps for 22 runs, and Tomone Thomas took two for 32.

In reply, St Joseph’s reached 116 for eight with Zubin Deyal knocking 50 not out. Extras accounted for 34 runs.

Bowling for Jennings, Samoy Simon picked up two for 10 and Dave Whyte had two for 13.

In the Antigua Commercial Bank, Parish League, Sir Vivian Richards American Airlines Thursday League matches scheduled for today, Pigott’s will host Harney Motors Mahico. The umpires are Norman Charles and Derwent Watley.
