ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Jehovah’s Witnesses across the island are preparing to host a three-day district convention beginning today, August 10, 2012, at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds.

The event, organisers said, will focus on biblical statements that highlight how protecting one’s heart will enhance one’s quality of life and preserve prospects for life in the future.

The scriptural theme for today’s programme will be, “As for Jehovah, He sees what the heart is,” and the key address will be entitled, “Let God’s word reveal the intentions of your heart.”

The morning programme will feature a series of talks on the subject “Beware of dangerous heart conditions!” as the symposium examines parallels between physical heart ailments and spiritual afflictions that can affect one’s figurative heart.

On Saturday, the session has as its theme “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” This will focus on how the figurative heart influences one’s worship and behaviour. The final segment for the morning will entail discussions on the importance of Christian baptism (“Give your heart to Jehovah”), followed by an ordination of new members of the faith as ministers.

Sunday’s programme will be based on the scriptural theme, “Serve Jehovah with a complete heart.” The morning session will conclude with a public talk and later in the afternoon a live play will be presented depicting four young people coming to grips with the answer to the question, “What is true love?”

The convention will conclude with a talk entitled, “Never let you heart become terrified!” All sessions will be free and open to the public.
