ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Antigua Hotels & Tourist Association (AHTA) has announced that it will be continuing its annual scholarship programme for the third consecutive year.
The scholarships for the two-year associate degree course at the Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI) in both Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management are for nationals of Antigua & Barbuda.
AHTA’s general manager, Neil Forrester, said he is very pleased with the academic performance of the current recipients of the scholarship programme.
“Over the past two years, five nationals have received grants from the AHTA for the Hospitality Management course and have been doing very well with well above average grades,” Forrester said in a release.
“When allocating these scholarships we are looking for individuals with outstanding career potential.
“Tourism is vital to the future of Antigua & Barbuda and we want to ensure that we have the right talent in place to lead the industry in the years to come.”
Interested applicants are asked to submit a 2000-word essay on the subject ”What Tourism Means to Me” along with passport-sized photos, cover letter, resume, proof of Antigua & Barbuda citizenship and CXC certification of five subjects with English and Mathematics as passes.
The successful applicants will be selected by the AHTA board members. The deadline for submitting essays is May 15, 2012.
