ST JOHN’S, Antigua – A married couple in All Saints Village remains traumatised after a life-threatening encounter with a masked man in the wee hours of Monday.
The wife said it all started about 2:35 yesterday morning as her husband conducted his usual inspection of the house.
However, this routine inspection was far from ordinary. Just after he exited the bedroom, he encountered a masked man in the hallway, dressed in all black.
The intruder, according to the husband, touched him and said “Just cool.” But the newly married man yelled to his wife to call the police and then quickly returned to the bedroom, where he retrieved a cutlass.
As the wife attempted to hold back her spouse, she said he bolted out the door to confront the intruder. Then all of a sudden a single gunshot rang out.
The woman told OBSERVER Media that the scene seemed so surreal. She said the bullet barely missed her husband’s chest; it ricocheted off the wall and landed on one of two beds, the shell casing on the other.
The wife said she pulled her husband back into the bedroom, locked the door, hit the ground, and then called the police.
When lawmen arrived on the scene the gunman was gone. Police investigations are under way.

People with criminal intentions will always commit crimes. They are just criminals. It has nothing to do with a good and or bad economy. When the economy was very good, all crimes were being commited. The real reason that we are aware,is the proper media in Antigua. That is my opinion.

@ Outraged and anybody else who figures that these type of “Home Invasion” is due to economical conditions is actually “incorrect”.
1) the intruders are not heading for the kitchen cupboard or the refridgerators instead they heading for the bedrooms.
2) once in the bedrooms, they either rob of jewelry, money, appliances etc. or worst yet “rape” or all of the above.
3) they usually have a gun, proper clothing, not smelling of odor that they haven’t bathe in a while etc. means some form of financial support.
4) When and if some of these intruders are caught, they and their attorney (financial support again) do not defend them by establishing proof that they did it due to not having financial means, or food etc at their homes for the past month prior to the invasion etc or so. if you understand what I am trying to say.
Hence, it cannot be “economic conditions” due to the underlying facts above but other than greed, lust, satisfying and not working for what you want and need in life, covet, jealousy, badmind etc. which points to “moral and immoral conditions”.
This has been the case and has increase over the decade, hence fi nothing is done about it…its hell on earth!

The audacity of these criminals coming into your home and telling you to “Just cool”!! Lord have mercy on us in little Antigua. If our economic situation doesn’t improve soon we’ll be experiencing even more crime in the near future!! Surely sad
