ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Twenty-five-year-old Leo Winston “T’man” Tonge is warded at the Mount St John’ s Medical Centre (MSJMC) following an intrusion at his Golden Grove home in the wee hours of Saturday morning, which left him nursing two gunshot wounds on the right side of his body.
Tonge’s mother, who spoke with OBSERVER Media yesterday, said that at about 1:30 am on Saturday, she was confronted by a masked man in her home and her screams summoned her son who lives several feet from her house.
According to his mother, Tonge pursued the masked intruder into the street and was shot when the gunman discharged his weapon.
Tonge, who is known better by his third name T’man, was rushed to emergency surgery on Saturday to remove one of the bullets, as the second bullet had entered and exited his body.
She said he is alert and speaking, however, it is a strenuous task for him given his condition.
The Golden Grove mother did not have a definitive description for the masked gunman, but she said he “had full eyes, heavy lips and about 5’ 6” or so.”
Police have launched and investigation to this shooting and are asking anyone who may have information to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 462-3913/4 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
