The feting business is really booming. It’s really blossomed over the years. I can remember back when it was just the White Fete and Blue Jeans Fete.

Now there is Power Rumble Fete, Wet Fete, Leggz Fete, Colours Fete, Flag Fete, Heelz Fete, Red Eye Fete, Girl Power Fete and others.

I’m just amazed at how people are able to attend all of these. While a select few of these events are rather affordable, some are $150 and $200. That’s enough to pay someone’s water or electricity bill.

And then some will be purchasing $1,000 costumes and attending Carnival shows nightly.

I wonder how many people are going to have their Antigua Public Utilities Authority services interrupted for outstanding arrears.

I’m just cautioning revellers to budget carefully and remember priorities: rent, food, utilities, upcoming school fees, supplies and other necessities.

Don’t get too carried away in the Carnival festivities and leave yourselves behind.
