Express win best-of-three playoffs against Hawks

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Big Banana Express have won their best-of-three playoff series against Hawks in the Cool & Smooth, Stag Beer, ABBA Division One competition.

On Saturday at JSC Sports Complex, they completed the sweep, 80-70.

      Xavier Meade scored 22 points and pulled 13 rebounds; George Francis shot 19 points and had 11 rebounds, and Lindsay McDonald contributed 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists for Express.

      Jason London shot 14 points and had five steals; while Marlon “Buju” Charles produced 14 points, four assists and three steals for Hawks.

On that fateful night, Roots also beat Outlaws, 87-79. Terry Roberts shot 28 points and grabbed 17 boards; Eril Quallis had 20 points, and Noel Ryan, 10 points, for Roots.

      Russell Daley shot a game high 36 points for Outlaws.

In the matches played on Friday night, Baldwin Braves beat Hankook Flyers, 95-83.

      Damion Floyd shot 21 points, Vivian Destin added 15 points, and Kevin Edwards 14 points for Braves, while Lennox McCoy shot 35 points, Chaz Samuel added 15 points, and Ravel Burton 10 points for Flyers.

Yorks Crushers edged Newfield Tapers, 70-67. Mario Davis scored 23 points, Decasta Walbrook 14 points, and Desmond Spencer, 13 points for Crushers.

      Jules Williams and Joseph Samuel scored 25 and 11 points, respectively for Tapers.
