Express to meet Rockersville in finals

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – It will be a massive east versus west clash in the playoffs’ finals of the 2013 Sandals Foundation Rockersville/Gray’s Green Invitational Basketball programme.

Big Banana Express of St John’s Rural West and Rockersville of St John’s City East will clash in the best of three finals after winning their respective best of three semi-finals series 2-0 at Fort Road on Saturday night.

Express prevailed 78-74 against Sweet B’s Ottos with Vivian “Boast” Destin shooting a game-high 29 points and Kareem Blair scoring 16 points for the victors.

Eric Joseph sank 22 points and Damien Floyd converted 21 points for Ottos.

Rockersville trounced Roots 73-51 with Marlon “Buju” Charles producing 18 points and Kevin Francis scoring 16 points for the winners.

Terry Roberts had a game-high 20 points in a losing cause for the Roots men.

The best of three finals will shoot-off with game one today at the King George V court at 7 pm.

The second game will be at the Fort Road Complex on Thursday night and if necessary, game three will be played at King George V court on Saturday evening.

The closing ceremony will be held next Monday, February 18, at the Multi-Purpose Cultural Center at Perry Bay and all teams and the general public are invited to attend.
