Exercise school sense

Dear Editor,

Once again the results of the Common Entrance Examinations are out and many parents are full of pride, as their children have made it on the coveted top 100 list.

I understand that come next year a different system will be in place to assess students’ abilities.

It has not really been spelt out exactly what this will entail, however I can only hope somewhere built into it will be recognition for those who have done extraordinarily well.

On another note, we are on the cusp of another Carnival season and there are many reasons to spend money, lots of it.

Parents ought not to need reminding, but just in case they do, outfitting a child for school is costly business.

It makes no economic sense to spend huge sums during the season on Carnival paraphernalia and then end up being short of money for school supplies.

Raising a hue and cry about government only providing one uniform will do no good either.
