ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Daniele Weston can count herself lucky after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) withdrew the case against her.
Weston had been charged with embezzlement.
Crown Counsel Shannon Jones told the court that Weston, who was employed as a clerk at LIME, formerly Cable & Wireless, allegedly misappropriated close to $10,000 from the business.
Jones, however, said that the company no longer wished to pursue the matter because Weston has since made full restitution of the sum.
Her attorney, Cosbert Cumberbatch, termed it as “over-restitution.”
It is alleged that Weston took $9,561.58 from the company between the period April 1, 2007, and July 31, 2008.
After the company discovered that the sum was unaccounted for, a report was made to the police and Weston was arrested and charged.
