The Antz Nest J’Ouvert Troupe is back with a different experience for its patrons, come J’Ouvert morning. The troupe has come up with additions geared at bringing a new and exciting experience to revellers, a release from organisers said.

J’Ouvert for the Antz family will be in one spot on lower High Street from between the Westerby Memorial and Thames Street.

“In this way, the troupe will be completely off the J’Ouvert route, but Antz members will have an ideal vantage point to either watch or go jump with the bands as they pass by without interrupting the procession,” the release noted.

The cost of the package is $150 and for that persons will have access to a bar of unlimited premium drinks, buffet styled traditional Antiguan breakfast, plus provided with a pre-J’Ouvert snack, t-shirts, rags, whistles, bandanas, bottles, goodie bags plus other surprises.

One of the attractions of the troupe has been the fun theme sections of Red Antz, Army Antz, Fire Antz, Sugar Antz and Wild Antz.

With the troupe in one place, promoters Antz Nest Events feel a lot more comfortable in bringing significant improvements to the experience while providing members with a safe and secure environment for J’Ouvert.

“Antz Nest J’Ouvert was predicated on bringing young and old, the family, business groups, everybody, together for a fun Carnival experience. That is our brand and the improvements this year are to ensure we protect that brand at all costs,” Doyle Carter of Antz Nest Promotions said.

“Carnival has been good for us so far this year. Our pre-Carnival fete, Leggz, was extremely successful and without incident. We are happy for that so we are working hard to continue this positive trend. It’s what all of our patrons deserve,” Carter added.

This falls in line with the reason the J’Ouvert troupe has taken the decision to settle in one spot this year. Carter explained that with the growth of the troupe, organisers noted a trend where non-paying revellers were spoiling the fun for members.

“In staying in one spot, we are better able to introduce new measures of control and thereby make the entire experience much better for the entire Antz family. We’re going to be doing some fun things that we would not have been able to do on the road,” he said.

Music for the Antz Nest J’Ouvert troupe will be provided by Wooden Foot.

Registration is taking place at the Antz Nest headquarters at the corner of Long and Thames Street.
