FORT ERIE, Canada, Jul 11, CMC – Barbadian jockey Juan Crawford remained in the top four of the standings at Fort Erie racetrack after riding a double on Tuesday’s eight-race programme.

He captured the CAN$10 920 race three with the favourite It’sapossibility before returning to win the $10 680 race seven with another favourite Gin Joint.

Crawford is fourth on 16 wins from 121 rides, in the standings headed by fellow Barbadian Terry Husbands on 28.

The Fort Erie season opened on May 6th and ends October 30th.

Crawford opened his account in a five furlong sprint when he made all the running with the four-year-old chestnut colt It’sapossibility, to beat the three-year-olds and upward by half-length.

In contrast in race seven, he sat Gin Joint off the pace before getting up late to win by a nose.

Going 6-1/2 furlongs, Rent a Friend and Stormy Marden set the early pace but faded in the final furlongs as Crawford launched a furious late bid with Gin Joint in the stretch.

Husbands, meanwhile, remained one clear at the top after piloting Cherry Ring Pop to victory in race five, for his only win on the day’s card.
