ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – A 48-year-old Italian man is facing drug-related charges after being found with cocaine at the V.C. Bird International Airport on Tuesday.
Police say Marcello Puggioni was attempting to depart the country on a British Airways flight when airport security officers noticed that he had what appeared to be a bulge in his crotch and decided to search him.
During the search, he was discovered with two wrapped packages containing the controlled drug, weighing 97 grams.
The Italian, who arrived here on May 8, is facing charges of possession of cocaine, possession with intent to transfer, attempting to export and drugs trafficking.
The drugs carry a street value of just over three thousand four hundred dollars.
