Two suicidal, abused teen girls were remanded to prison yesterday owing to a lack of a suitable facility to care for them.
The youngsters’ plight prompted Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh to increase the pressure on government to open a rehabilitation centre to address a “crisis” among the country’s troubled youth.

A jeweller has been convicted for stealing a client’s gold nugget ID bracelet, which he later sold.
Instead of being imprisoned for two years, the maximum penalty for the offence, Anthony Browne, 43, of lower Gambles, was fined $4,000.
