Calls for a monument to honour African ancestors

St. John’s Antigua- Authorities here are being called on to establish a monument in honor of Caribbean people’s African ancestors.

Addressing emancipation day celebrations here,  Rastafarian Elder King Frank-I said not enough is being done to remember those who died in the liberation movement.

Celebrations were held Tuesday night at Betty’s Hope to Observe Emancipation day, recognized here on August 1 each year.

The day was marked with singing, chanting, steel band music the beating of drums and speeches.
