Big Banana Holding Company team has captured the Cool & Smooth Business League Football 2010/11 title.

They beat West Indies Oil Company (WIOC) in penalties in the finals at Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) on Saturday.

Playing in the first game of a triple-header, WIOC scored first when Anthony Scott hit home, but Big Banana drew level when Marlon Peart converted.

However, despite both teams pressing for more goals, at the final whistle, the score was knotted at one-all.

During the best of five penalties to decide the winner, Big Banana won four goals to three.

Kendal Pennyfeather, Orange Gordon, Oswin Benjamin and Jermaine Jackson made good their penalities for Big Banana, while Peart kicked wide.

For WIOC, Damien Williams, Javin Francis and Ishal Simon scored their penalties.

During a short ceremony immediately following the match, Director of Sports Mervyn Richards congratulated both teams for the standard of play, while Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) President Everton “Batow” Gonsalves encouraged the teams to keep up the good work and jokingly asked them to join the ABFA programme.

Benjamin was voted MVP of the tournament and also took the prize for the most goals.

Goalkeeper Devon Brown of Big Banana was voted the Player of the Finals.

Big Banana were also the Zone 1 winners, while PWD Stars won Zone 2.

Business League Football was organised by the Ministry of Sports and sponsored by Cool & Smooth.
