Bethesda book spot in ABCA two-day semi-finals

St. John’s Antigua- Hosts Bethesda booked their spot in the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Association’s (ABCA) Two-Day semi-final by romping to a 59-run victory over Bolans.

Bethesda batted first in the rescheduled preliminary round encounter and made 258 for three declared.

West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Devon “Boobie” Thomas slams 146 not out, while Mali Richards hit 76 and Jamaul Fernandez 21.

David Desilva took one for 52, Winston Nelson had one for 70 and Orlando Peters claimed one for 77.

In reply, Bolans were all out for 168. Peters hit 61, Azairiah Francis got 28 and Gavin Williams 24.

Kemorie Payne snapped up three for 22 and Desire Stange had three for 51.

Buoyed by a 90-run first innings lead, Bethesda then declared their second innings on 84 for two.

Thomas struck 41 and Richards hit 36 not out. Peters took one for eight and Nelson had one for 43.

Chasing a target of 174 runs for victory, Bolans crashed to 115 all out. Maxwell Georgeson hit 59 and Peters contributed 21. Stange picked up six for 46 to end with a match haul of nine for 97 and Sheldon Archibald bagged four for 13.

The victory ensured that Bethesda snatched the last semi-final berth ahead of Scotiabank Empire.

Bolans will get a quick opportunity for revenge when they return to Bethesda this weekend for one of the two two-day semi-finals matches.

Medpath New Winthropes will take on PIC Insurance Liberta at Falmouth in the other semi-final encounter this weekend.
