ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Halcyon Tennis Club Men’s Singles competition started on Friday evening with some of the more popular competitors such as the No 1 seeded Junior Bennett and the No 2 seeded Peter “Wiffo Demus” Quinn.

It was the first of its kind with the club aiming to host more evening matches under the lights of the Halcyon tennis courts.

The tournament was played in a round robin format with an upset in the semi-final round when Kelly Gordon defeated Quinn to earn his spot in the finals.

Bennett earned his spot in the finals after ousting Otis Williams in the semi-finals.

Due to a rain delay on Saturday evening, the finals match was played on Sunday with Gordon and Bennett taking to the courts.

The match was taken by Bennett who overcame Gordon in straight sets to win the competition, 6-1, 6-2.
