Many would say he’s made a switch from dancehall to soca but to clarify, the artiste, Lee P Ching wants fans to know: “It’s not a switch; it’s an evolution.
“Music always evolves and so it’s the evolution of Lee P Ching,” he told OBSERVER Entertainment.
Ching, who forms Team Benna with brother Charlie X, just released two singles off the duo’s new album, Benna Binging, due out next month. The names of the tracks are Carnival Kid and Party King, featuring Kenne Blessin.
With the making of their second album – a follow-up to last year’s Benna Evolution, the two continue their quest to keep benna music alive.
In fact, they referred to themselves as Benna Boys, even before the National Football team decided on the name.
“You know benna is the original music of Antigua, so we’re going back to the roots and culture and trying to bring benna back to the fore, like it was in the earlier years in Antigua,” Ching said.
Fans can catch Team Benna this weekend at the Beautiful People Mas’ Camp during the after-work jam or at Darkwood Beach on Whit Monday during the Wine and Pork Fest.
