Antigua name players for COTECC 12 & Under team tourney

St. John’s Antigua- Cordell Williams Jr and Ayden Ambrose have been selected to represent Antigua & Barbuda at the Confederation of Tennis in Central America and the Caribbean (COTECC) Wilson Team Championships in Puerto Rico later this year.

The 2nd annual team championships, sponsored by Caribbean Union Bank, will be hosted by the Puerto Rico Tennis Association in Salinas, Puerto Rico, from July 15 to 22.

This International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned event, which is supported by the Grand Slam Development Fund (GSDF), invites top Under-12 players – born between 2000 and 2002 – from Central America and the Caribbean to compete for the Wilson Cup.

The selection of Williams and Ambrose was made based on their performances and level of development over the past year.

A new partner, Caribbean Union Bank (CUB), has come on board with the Antigua & Barbuda Tennis Association (ABTA) to assist in its national junior development programme.

The initial four-year partnership between the ABTA and CUB will greatly assist the national tennis association in sending a team to compete in this prestigious event in the future.

ITF/COTECC team events are geared toward developing Under-12 athlete to the next level, which is which is the Under-14 competition.
