Antigua & Barbuda topple Nevis

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis (CMC) – Half-centuries from Austin Richards Jr and Gavin Williams set up Antigua & Barbuda for a 104-run victory over Nevis in the Leeward Islands One Day championship on Wednesday.

Richards cracked half-dozen fours and one six in the top score of 66 from 110 balls and Williams stroked 57 from 72 balls including five fours to lead Antigua & Barbuda to 238 for nine from their allocation of 50 overs in the match at Elquemedo Willett Park.

Jason Campbell was the pick of the Nevis bowlers with five for 44, and Nelson Bolan collected two for 44.

In reply, Nevis were dismissed for 134 in 38 overs, with a handful of their batsmen getting starts but not carrying on.

Javia Liburd led the way with 24, Tonito Willett scored 21, and Bolan completed a handy all-round performance with 20.

Hayden Walsh Jr, Larry Joseph, and Gavin Tonge all grabbed two wickets each for Antigua & Barbuda.

The Antiguans lead the championship with 19 points.
