The main opposition Antigua Labour Party is threatening to withdraw its offer of assistance to the ruling United Progressive Party administration, 24 hours after making the suggestion in response to an US $8 billion lawsuit against the government by Stanford investors.

Since Tuesday?s announcement by Chairman Gaston Browne, the opposition party has been harshly criticised by members of the public, and even within the party, for the role it played in supporting and encouraging the development of the Stanford empire.

Now the ALP chairman is calling for Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer to speak on the matter to correct what he termed ?political spins and false journalistic statements that are being propagated.
