ST JOHN’S, Antigua – All Saints beat Jennings by four wickets in the final round of preliminary matches over the weekend at Mack Pond in All Saints, but that was not enough to get them to the semi-finals.
Taking the crease first, Jennings were bowled out for 77 runs with Julio Charles top-scoring with 27.
Bowling for All Saints, Geetesh Harilal picked up four wickets for five runs, Conroy Semple took three for nine, and Dwayne George had two for 28.
In reply, All Saints declared their first innings on 145 for six. George scored 40, Miles Bauker, 28, and Andra Samuel, 16.
Bowling for Jennings, Brevon Barnarde secured four for 53.
Jennings, facing a deficit of 68, made 148 for nine with Rashive Jarvis hitting 65, and Xavier Freeland 33.
Bowling a second time around for All Saints, Harilal captured three for 52 and match figures of seven for 57; Semple had three for 48 and match figures of six for 57; Samuel picked up three for 10.
All Saints, needing 80 runs for victory, reached 82 for four.
George scored 39, while Barnarde and Freeland picked up two for eight and two for 12, respectively.
At New Winthorpes, the home team Medpath New Winthorpes beat Combined Schools by an innings and 45 runs.
Combined Schools tallied 115 in their first innings with Brian Allen scoring 40.
Ian Eusebe of New Winthorpes took three wickets for no runs; Sylvester Joseph had two for 30, and Shavorn Moore had two for 15.
In reply, New Winthorpes declared on 268 for four. Sylvester Joseph scored 127 not out, and Otis Thomas added 75.
Batting a second time, Combined Schools were bowled out for 128 runs. Marcus Francis hit 45, J Tiwari, 26, and Daryl James, 20.
Chad Hampson picked five for 31 and Nino Henry had two for 32.
