St. John’s Antigua- Ayden Ambrose and Chante Francis won the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively at the recent Under-12 Junior Tennis Tournament which was staged by Antigua & Barbuda Tennis Association (ABTA) at Halcyon By Rex Resort.

Ambrose claimed the boys’ singles crown by coasting to a 4-1, 4-1 victory over Keon Armstrong in the final.

Francis, playing her first Under-12 competition, took the girls’ title by beating fellow debutante Zena Joseph in the final.

Callum Drepaul captured the boys’ consolation title by pulling off a 4-2, 4-1 victory over Walter Sweeney in the final.

ABTA has declared the recent competition a success although a large number of players, especially in the girls division, did not participate in the event.

According to a release from ABTA, the national association said the quality of play that the young players displayed in the Under-12 tournament showed some encouraging signs that Antigua & Barbuda’s upcoming players will be a force to be reckoned with.

ABTA and Halcyon Tennis Club thank the tournament director Richard Elien and the tournament organising committee as well as parents and well-wishers of the participants for their contribution and support to the success of the recent event.
