ST JOHN’S, Antigua – FIFA is continuing its investigation into allegations that Caribbean Football Union (CFU) officials were offered and accepted US $40,000 in cash at a CFU meeting held in Trinidad on May 10 and 11, 2011, from the then FIFA presidential candidate, Muhammad Bin Hammam, in exchange for their votes at the FIFA presidential elections which took place on the June 1, 2011, in Zurich, Switzerland.
ABFA President Everton “Batow” Gonsalves and General Secretary Gordon “Banks” Derrick, who were present at the meeting, have always indicated to FIFA “that we were never offered and never did we accept US $40,000 cash from the presidential candidate, Bin Hammam, to vote for him in the FIFA presidential elections and our willingness to assist with the investigation upon receipt of notice to do so.”
The ABFA has received a communiqué that it will be contacted in relation to the date, time and place of the interview to which it will comply.
