ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Antigua & Barbuda continues to prepare for the 15th World Domino Championships slated for August 17-26 in Florida. This year’s event will be hosted by the United States Domino Association (USDA).

According to a release, most participating teams are putting all in place for this grand occasion. Defending champions Barbados along with Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Canada, Guyana, Jamaica and host country USA are among some of the teams expected to do battle in Orlando during the summer period. Jamaica will be participating for the first time.

Countries at this time are also stepping up their preparations to meet the various stipulated deadlines for the tournament. These will include the submission of the likely size of the travelling contingent and the process for those team members who will need US visas. Welcome letters from the host country along with an invitation letter from the WCDF secretariat should make this process move more smoothly.

The WCDF is also urging some of its players to participate in the Jamaica Domino Championships as part of the preparation process. These championships are slated for June 4 to 8.

The WCDF also encouraged countries that will not be participating in the championships to make an effort to send two delegates to attend the annual general meeting slated for August 26, at the end of the tournament.

This will be the first occasion that these games will be held in the USA. Most of the activity will be centered at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando.
