Winston Derrick

Winston Derrick, chairman of the Observer Media Group, has had a varied career in advertising, broadcasting, food service, IT, public relations and sales and marketing. He, along with his brother, the late Samuel “Fergie” Derrick, founded Observer by Fax, which expanded to become The Daily OBSERVER. The duo then fought a five-year legal battle against the Government of Antigua & Barbuda for the right to broadcast. This led to a landmark Privy Council decision that freed up the electronic media in many Commonwealth countries.
Winston is the host of Voice of the People.

Julian Rogers is a Caribbean broadcaster and journalist, renowned for biting interviews. He is known as the Caribbean man for his work across the region’s media landscape television, radio and print.

Anika Kentish

Anika Kentish is the host and producer of the weekday morning current affairs show Observer AM. The show features interviews with key newsmakers from around the country and the wider region.

As a journalist, she not only reports for the Observer Group but other news agencies including the Associated Press and the Barbados-based Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC).

Cleveroy Thomas

Cleveroy Thomas was introduced to Observer Radio as a student at Princess Margaret School when he co-ordinated a show as part of the Young Leaders Programme. That led to a full time gig that sees Cleveroy functioning in a number of roles, including as the host of the mid-morning show, Coffee Break, and Friday night?s entertainment programme The Buzz. He?s a regular stand-in for Serpent and also shares Sessions in Steel duties with Sam Roberts.

Colin Sampson

Colin Sampson serves as the producer and co-host of ‘Voice of the People’ and also the host of the weekly current affairs show Big Issues heard on Sunday afternoons on Observer Radio. Colin is a keen observer of the political landscape for several decades and know many of the personality very well. He is regarded as a very penetrating questioner of his guests as he works to get answers to the questions the man in the street is asking.

Kim Derrick

Kim Derrick is the host of Observer Radio’s Our House which airs Mondays through Fridays from 2:30pm. She has served in various roles, including Observer Radio’s Programme Manager and Producer of the Voice of the People.

Born and raised on Antigua, Kim holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto in languages, a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Laurentienne University, and a Master’s degree from Dartmouth College focusing in Environmental Sciences.

She is fluent in English, French, and Spanish and is conversant in Mandarin. Kim incorporates her talents and experiences in teaching, languages, music, environmental conservation, plus her knowledge of other cultures into “Our House” which is a fun and educational show for children of all ages.

Randy Allen

Randy Allen, the host of Sports Talk, has been an athlete for the last 16 years. He is certified to coach youth football and track & field and has worked with the Ministry of Sports. Randy knows the players, personalities and issues in the sports fraternity.

Serpent

Serpent is arguably the most popular media personality in the country and as host of the Snake Pit, he and his crew dissect the major stories of the week. Serpent brings a different perspective to the station with his unmatched wit and impeccable taste in music. The Snake Pit has a loyal following every weeknight from Monday to Thursday and all day Saturday.

Racchel Thomas

Racchel Thomas is affectionately known in her hometown as the Voice of Barbuda. That?s because she was the first to bring?listeners in Antigua a daily taste of what was happening across the waters in their sister island. She started out as an Angel In The Morning. Today, she co-hosts the racy Saturday night show He Said, She Said. Listeners can have their say on a variety of relationship-based topics, from how to break up with someone, to halitosis on a first date.

Racchel also mixes things up with her Sunny Saturday morning show, which features regional and international artists, as well as the latest happenings worldwide.

With a background as a voice-over artist and background singer in New York, and a satellite radio DJ in California, Racchel is a long way from show business in 62-square mile Barbuda, but close to her family.

Denise Francis

Denise Francis, as a producer and programme manager, serves as the backbone of Observer Radio?s programming. She is responsible for the sound of the programmes and the production of the shows. She is also the host of the Saturday morning show, Sunny Saturday, a role she shares with Racchel Thomas.

Deborah Eckert

Deborah Eckert hosts the Sunday Morning Reflection program from 7 to 10 a.m. She holds degrees in history, religion and education. She is a professionally trained musician and artist. Her music-loving family lived and travelled in many parts of the world, so she became from early on, a world citizen, passionately concerned about promoting understanding and appreciation for God’s amazingly diverse creation. She is a naturalized Antigua, having lived and served in Antigua for the past twenty-five years. The result of deep reflection, she believes, is joy, gratitude and creativity, and these are the qualities she hopes her listeners will also experience.

Marcella Andre

A native of Dominica with roots in Antigua 30 years old, Marcella Andre is the host of Une Experience en Creole, which airs every Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. The three-hour music programme features zouk, cadence and soukouss music.
Marcella credits her love of this music to her Creole roots and her love and facility with foreign languages. Through this medium, she hopes to open the minds, musical tastes, and understanding of persons who are not familiar with these genres of music.
