The yachting community in the English Harbour/Falmouth area seemed, largely, unaware that the lifeless body of US citizen Nina Elizabeth Nilssen had been found in a desolate area of Pigeon Point Beach Tuesday evening.
This is crazy to early for this thing to happen what are they trying to do to us ,they are turnning us in to a crime city ,its not going to work.

Do Antiguans sport gold teeth?
at 3:37 pm
HOW MUCH MISSING TEETH ARE WE TALKING ABOUT? MR COMMISSIONER WE NEED DETAILS. HOW MUCH KARATS GOLD TOOTH? 18 OR 24? THESE ARE IMPORTANT DETAILS
at 3:44 pm
And now Antiguans want to bring Haitians here. If these crimes keep happening theres no point.
at 3:45 pm
WORRIED HOW DID U KNOW IT WAS AN ANTIGUAN …….. WE ANTIGUAN DONT CARRY GOLD TEETH AND IF WE HAVE MISSING TEETH WE WILL GET IT REPLACE
at 4:36 pm
I cant say whetherthe person is Antiguan or not but one thing i can say is that its to early for this is like my paradise has gone to hell.
at 5:54 pm
it’s because of ignorant thinking like what we got from 007 why we can’t go anywhere. If the police are looking for this man, it’s obvious that he may have done, seen or heard something in relation to the murder. It is also likely that the police are going on a description given to them by a witness so I must ask 007 is: When was the last time you saw a man with a gold tooth walking down the road and could immediately tell how many karats? And even so, can the average person easily tell the difference between 18 and 24 karats? I find people can be so unreasonable sometimes in what you expect of the police. They are obviously not perfect but you can’t expect them to solve crimes by telepathy. Please 007, do me, and the rest of this country a favour: before ou are tempted to point the *goldfinger* at others, try first pointing it at yourself and looking at how you can make a difference.
The attitude stinks
at 6:10 pm
true patriot, I think 007 was not being sarcastic; however, the timing is very inappropriate. To wondering and antiguan born, I am 100% Antiguan and so ashamed of your comments. You two are so IGNORANT to think that an Antiguan cannot have gold teeth. I have never read such pompous, ignorant and DORTISH comments in my life!!! The urgency at the moment should be to solve this crime!!
at 7:01 pm
CORRECTION: true partiot, I think 007 WAS being sarcastic……
at 7:04 pm
it is up to u if u are ashame to be an antiguan ………. each man have a voice and a right to their own opinion you will never find an antiguan will a gold teeth n that is what i say if u have a problem put me over your knees and give me a good beating

Nina was a kind, intelligent, well-traveled, beautiful and beloved friend and daughter of highly respected members of our community in Taos, NM. It is impossible to express the extent of our sadness in learning of this tragic loss of a wonderful life. Rather than “containing any fallout that comes as a result of this homicide”, we hope that your police and each of you will renew your efforts to make your beaches safe, as we have now been made more keenly aware and concerned for the safety of young travelers to our community. United in sorrow.
at 9:01 pm
i want to say to every one in antigua to think clearly on the day tuesday 19/1/10 you have this man in your neigbourhood please report him to the Police or call 800TIPS.
at 9:11 pm
Unfortunately, “containing any fallout that comes as a result of this homicide” is what Antigua will attempt to do. They were successful after the Mullany honeymoon murders, They were successful after the Drew Gollan murder (about a mile from where Nina died) and they are attempting to minimize the fallout of the Stanford International Bank fraud.
Antigua’s entire history is one of being a bad actor on the world stage going back almost thirty years, and they seem very successful at it. They think “independence” is independence from responsibility, and to date, no one has called them on it.
I doubt this incident will change anything.
at 9:41 pm
Rather than your police department’s effort to “work to contain any fallout that might come as a result of the homicide,” shouldn’t they WORK to find the perpetrator? Shouldn’t they WORK for the family and friends of the victim? Shouldn’t their WORK be for justice? What on earth are they working to contain? Their reputation? Their jobs? The reputation of this tourist destination? What the hell are they being paid to do? Are they employees of Antigua’s Department of Tourism? Nina, her family, and her friends deserve much, much more than having the fallout of this murder “contained.” I am outraged.
at 10:19 pm
Amidst all that was said before no one has said plain and simple that the description sound like a Guyanese. DEM AGAIN…Murderrrrrrrr
at 10:29 pm
WHEN EVER SOMETHING HAPPEN I NOTICE HOW “ANTIGANS” ARE QUICK TO BLAME FOREIGNERS WE ARE ALL BLACK WE ARE ALL GOD’S CHILDREN YOU ALL NEED TO STOP THIS FOOLISHNESS ABOUT ANTIGANS DON’T DO THIS AND DONT DO THAT…PEOPLE ARE GOING TO THINK YOU ALL ARE DUNCE.
at 10:50 pm
Alexis, you have obviously never lived in Antigua.
First of all, “work”? that’s just like slavery. if what you mean by “work” is some sense of duty, productive effort or human decency, let alone self preservation, you must understand: for an Antiguan, the person who pays them (and instructs them what to do) is who they “work” for: Party First, patronage second, unenlightened short-term self interest third. things like justice and and reputation don’t even come in on the top ten.
The situation has been going downhill for over a decade now, and virtually all the First-World people who lived there have pulled up stakes and left. Unfortunately, they (for the most part) have failed to warn the rest of the world.
Sad But True.
at 11:25 pm
This murder may not shake the world but it has once again shaken me to the fact that this place, if it is not serious about crime will end with the same reputation that Jamaica had in the 70’s. It will then take another two generations or more for this Island to recover! No tourists! Get real people, this will become a greater problem unless you start making complaints about every law breaker in your own streets.
My thoughts go to the family and friends of this poor girl.
at 12:01 am
Its really foolish to think that gold tooth is foreign to Antiguans. We need to try find the suspect and wait for identity to be established. I am an Antiguan and am sometimes surprised to hear some of the narrow minded views we do have. We need to change that immediately.
at 3:29 am
Realist:
I have a big problem with your condescending and demeaning remarks about Antiguans. In first world countries, every single minute of every single day, people are kidnapped, murdered, raped, slashed, robbed and visited with some of the most heinous crimes known to mankind. Little girls are taken from their beds in the dead of night, raped and buried alive. Disgruntled students take loaded guns to school and wreak havoc on their fellow students and faculty. Demented animals patrol school yards with candy luring unsuspecting children to their doom. There are serial killers – some of whom are seemingly upstanding, church going citizens who, in chilling fashion, recount how they stalked, bound strangled and killed innocent women in their own homes. Think BTK. There are subway killers, Boston stranglers, the Jeffrey Dahmers who lured men, raped and killed them and then ate their flesh. There are politicians who unashamedly steal millions of dollars and sometimes get away with it.
Why in the world are you making Antigua sound like a murder capital because one of your people got killed? I don’t know his hapless lady and cannot speak for her. Maybe she was a decent person who was just minding her business and needlessly lost her life. But I have seen lots of dirty white trash come down here looking for a sexual fix and literally throwing themselves at some of guys whom most local women would frown upon. They believe the dirtier, blacker and more muscular the man, the better the libido. And the moment they see one whom they suspect would show them a better time in bed, they ditch the one and jump ship. Again, I am not saying this lady is one of them but don’t make it appear that Antigua is teeming with serial killers. You can count on both hands and have quite a few fingers to spare, the number of murders committed on tourists over the last 10 years.
And the nerve of you to talk about first world people picking up stakes and returning home. I don’t know which rock you have been hiding under but most of your people who come here don’t want to leave. They sit and talk among themselves in the most degrading fashion about the “natives” but the first thing they do when they come here is buy prime land – at the cheapest prices to boot. They know darned well that if they leave they are certainly not returning to paradise. First world countries are in the main, crime ridden, disease and drug infested, polluted hell holes run by bigoted, greedy white people like you Realist. I wish you would pack up and go back to your paradise.

I perceive that emotions are running high on this blog. Maybe we need to calm ourslves and thinls this through with rational thoughts.
Sympathies to the family of the young on your loss. It is not something that anyone wants to hear about. It is a loss of a life and something needs to be done about it. I do not know that crime will cease anywhere, but more needs to be done in addressing it. I think improvments have been made and more should be made.
Someone with an ugly heart has taken a life and has threatened the stability of life in this land. Economics or not, no life should be taken!!!
The nationality of the perpetrator is inconsequential at this point. It has been proven though that deportees as well as an influx of others have resulted in a uniqueness in crime which have not been known to us. I do beleive that crime need to be treated at its source and there will always be those who seek material things, monet et al, without working for it – robbing others seems easier.
In a wrap up kind of way, we find crime all over. It does not excuse what goes on here, but let us not say that this is the worst palce on the earth. Crime needs to be stamped out and it will take the cooperatiev effort of basically every Antiguan and Barbudan to effect this.
Again, my condolences to the family of the young lady.
at 5:18 am
Realist, I cannot agree that “they are leaving” whoever they are. I live in the area of St. Paul’s, Falmouth to boot, and it is amazing the influx of Americans and Europeans, who yes, try to and succeed in some cases in buying lands at peppercorn prices. Locals cannot get such deals. Just maybe you need to look at the hills overlooking Cobbs’ Cross and see what a politicans sold a Caucasian, non-Antiguan and the money that was pid for it.
In short, many of the whites are here and will stay. Many more are coming and with the strengthening of the sterling which translates into much local currency, some of them have become fairly big fishes, if not outright big ones, in a small pond. Of course, they would have NEVER EVER be such in their national environs as they would be just another small fish in a big pond.
Let us stop trying to pull Antigua down. Things are not of the best, and certainly not of the worst. Expatriates are living it up. I know as I live amongst them. Many are having the time of their lives and are not willing to trade it for anything in the world.

I am so sad to hear of this terrible terrible loss. I think now that people are losing their lives in Antigua tourisim will certianly decline. It is one thing to loose your money it’s totally another to loose your life money is nothing LIFE IS EVERYTHING. My condolences to the victim and her family here in the United States. Tourisim in Antigua is in big trouble.
at 1:25 pm
My thoughts and sympathy go out to the family of this girl.
It doesn’t matter what the nationality of the murderer was. What does matter is that he be taken off our beaches.
This must never happen again! Find him, try him, hang him.
at 5:41 pm
My wife and I spent the week before this tragedy in Antigua. We did tour the island feeling safe. We had no idea that something like this could happen. I am glad I was always with her, as we did walk alot. Antigua was an incredible place to visit, the people were also incredible. It just wakes you up to realize it can happen anywhere. My heart goes out to this family.
at 8:46 pm
I also grew up in New Mexico and am 29 years old also. I attended the University there. I may have been there at UNM and met this young lady if she was there at the same time which is entirely likely. I currently live in California also. it is so tragic and scary to have lost such a wonderful individual as she must have been on what should have been the happiest day of her life. Who would expect this while on a vacation on an island at the family wedding of your own sister? It is terrible and whoever did this should pay dearly for taking the life of a smart good female.
He probably lured her away with drugs. People, stay away from people with gold teeth and always check if people who are strangers have weapons on them or will kill you. Stay away from people that do drugs and not educated. Stay away from old men who will not respect you. Stay away from deadbeats.
at 11:17 pm
I love you Nina. i will miss you Sweetheart. R.I.P.
at 11:18 pm
Let us no jump to conclusion the police need to take a closer look home they coud be looking for a needle in a haystack the person who commit the crime could be well out of antgua laughing a us pulling down our country’s good name did anyone know how much the young lady was insured for did the police check with insurance companies in the state or where there people comes from the bible says the heart of men is above all deceitful and desperately wicked. did the young lady had a lovers quarrel or with a family member, was it and accident or someone will caqim big insurance money
at 8:51 pm
we had bad experiance too, ….never again to Antigua and no one should go there
at 4:27 pm
Stop your foolishness people. Because a crime was committed does not say the country has become a place not to visit. Crime is committed quite frequently around the globe by minds that is governed by demonic utterances.
Antigua is a wonderful, lovely paradise. A country of awesome beauty. PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, GO TO VISIT ANTIGUA AND ANY OTHER COUNTRY YOUR HEART DESIRES, AND ENJOY. WHAT IS OUR LOT THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT!.
DO NOT LET ANYONE DISCOURAGE YOU FROM ENJOYING THIS WORLD THAT GOD GAVE US.
at 6:54 am
My condolence goes out to her family and friends. I love Antigua but when I visit I am sad to say that I see tourist at Shirley’s Height with Strangers drunk so many times. I cringed at the thought they might get robbed, or raped but not murdered.
I am aborn Antiguan and i refuse to loose control like that when I go some where on vacation. I hate to hear that our beaches are not safe and that a KILLER is still out there. Please do your best to find him so that he doesn’t kill again.
at 3:10 am
its a sad situation, I can only imagine wat the family is going through.
at 7:29 pm
The people and businesses of Antigua will starve because of this….what a shame and what a fool to take this responsibility for his own selfish sickness and kill a girl and take all the tourism gdp income down with him. His family will pay for his stupidity. I feel for all the hard working people of Antigua and the family that lost.
