The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & the Environment continues to suffer at the hands of thieves. The most recent incident occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning at the Dunbar’s Laboratory and Experimental Station.

Head of Security, Algernon James, reported that staff turned up shortly after 8 am, yesterday and found that three doors to the storeroom were broken.

A check of the facility revealed several items missing, among them a Busch vacuum pump and blower, a weed whacker and a small refrigerator. A wheelbarrow found nearby is suspected to have been used to transport the heavy equipment.

Over the years the ministry has been plagued by theft.

James said since the incident, security has been stepped up to prevent reoccurrence at the outstations and at the ministry’s headquarters.

The police are investigating the matter.
