14 headed to China

August 16, 2012, St John’s Antigua – Despite complaining of inadequate funds the government has made it possible for 14 deserving student to purse studies in the Republic of China, through the annual Scholarship programme.

The recipients were announced this afternoon during a short ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The field of studies includes, Chinese International Relation and Culture, Pharmaceuticals, and Telecommunications engineering.

Speaking at the official ceremony, Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer said the annual programme is a testament to government’s commitment to the field of education.

Spencer added that with the current global economy, it is essential that University education be provided to youth of the nation.

The scholarships are made possible through the diplomatic relations between both countries.

The prime minister also lauded the continued commitment of China and encouraged the awardees to stay focused and remain committed to their studies.
